The women from the Chin tribe in Myanmar were so beautiful that they were often kidnapped by the kings of neighboring areas and forced into marriage.
The Chin parents, in an attempt to protect their daughters, decided to tattoo the faces of their young girls in order to neutralise their inherent beauty & wouldn't be abducted to forced into marriage. For more than a millennium, Burma’s Chin people tattooed the faces of their young women until “1960s”
Chin State is located in the southern part of northwestern Burma (Myanmar), Southeast Asia
According to one Burma (Myanmar) woman "the tattooing took over a day to complete and it was extremely painful, especially to the tender eyelid area”,
The full facial tattoos became signs of beauty for every Chin women of the old generation.
The face tattoos was officially banned by the then-socialist regime in the 1960s, and the tattoos became increasingly rare as Christian missionaries converted the previously animist communities, said Chin pastor Shwekey Hoipang.
As for me, SexyB, even with the tattoos on their faces,
the Chin Burma (Myanmar )women are still beautiful.
